That might knock out my wargaming/board game budget for the month but it would give me a chance to get some rare and cool things for the game next year. I’d probably order some any day now but I think I might plunk down a fair bit of money on the Hellboy Board Game’s Kickstarter that is about to end. Fortunately, Modiphius now has a shipping center in the US so shipping from England doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! I intend to but quite a bit of the resin Fallout terrain that I haven’t been able to find at retailers here for well over a year soon as I’m excited to add it to my collection. The one thing that is keeping me from doing an Institute group shot is I’d like to get some suitable terrain to complete the image. I didn’t bother taking a picture but when I do get around to an Institute group shot, I’m glad the rifles will all have a similar paint scheme. The rest of the Scientist came together pretty easily and I did find time to go back and repaint the Synth with the poorly painted rifle to match this one and the more recent Gen 1 Synth. This mini doesn’t provide a lot of opportunities to use layering so hopefully the highlights I did on the suit look good enough.
This mini was a bit of an unexpected challenge because I used Nilakh Oxide from Games Workshop for the first time which is nearly a wash consistency and so adding white to that to try to create the highlights led to some pretty thin paint. They don’t play a prominent role in Fallout 4 until you get close to the end of the main story but they are important to The Institute because they make the synths after all so I enjoyed painting him/her. The last Institute mini I have to paint in my Core Box (because I am skipping the poor sculpt I mentioned last week) is a scientist. How that happened, I have no idea, but fixing a couple small spots is now on my to-do list for the upcoming week.įortunately, I did finish another mini this week and its something a little different this time. I did go back and fix the railroad tracks and was going to take a picture for this update and I noticed that I somehow spilled some paint on it. Its been another fairly quiet hobby week for me so this will be a shorter update.
